About shortshort.
shortshort (shortshort.io) is made by Arsène Huot, in France, and opened to the public in 2026. This page says why it exists, what it does and what it leaves alone.
What it is
shortshort takes one long video you own, up to 2 GB, and cuts it into vertical shorts aimed at 15 to 90 seconds, each ending on a complete sentence, framed on the face on screen, captioned word by word and exported as an MP4: 9:16 at 1080 x 1920, or 4:5 at 1080 x 1350 for the Instagram feed, where each short is framed again for that shape.
The video comes in as a file (MP4, MOV or WebM) or as the link of your own public or unlisted YouTube video, downloaded on our servers at up to 720p with its audio.
It proposes up to 3 shorts per video on the Free plan, 5 on Starter, 10 on Creator and 20 on the Studio plan.
Why it exists
A short cut on the clock interrupts the speaker mid-sentence. shortshort started from the opposite rule: a short begins where a thought begins and ends where it ends, even if it comes out shorter or longer than the length you asked for.
Two other things came next: a frame that follows the face on screen when the source is a wide 16:9 shot, and captions that land on the voice, word by word.
What the AI proposes is a starting point: you can move where a short starts and ends, retitle it and fix any caption word before anything is rendered; the framing and the zooms stay automatic.
Who makes it
There is no team behind the name yet: Arsène Huot, an independent developer, writes the code, runs the site and reads every message. The site is published by THE VIBECODING AGENCY, the company he manages; its details are on the legal notice.
Source videos, shorts and account data are stored by Supabase in the EU (Frankfurt), and shortshort is operated from France. The AI analysis is the exception: the video or its transcript goes to Google Gemini or OpenAI, outside the EU, and the Google file is deleted when the job ends. Every new account starts with 30 free credits, and one credit is one minute of source video. Paid plans are Starter at 12 EUR, Creator at 29 EUR and the Studio plan at 79 EUR a month, VAT added on top, for 480, 1,600 or 6,000 credits.
What it does not do
Some things are deliberately left out. Saying so here spares you a test.
- No dubbing and no translation: captions are in the language spoken in the video, never translated: each short's words are transcribed by OpenAI's whisper-1, which OpenAI says supports 98 languages, with accuracy that varies by language, so check the words before rendering.
- No automatic B-roll, music or on-screen titles: the short is your video, reframed and captioned.
- No publishing to Instagram, LinkedIn or X: shortshort schedules and posts to YouTube, TikTok publishing is in early access, and the rest you download and post yourself.
- No square or 16:9 export, no 4K and no 60 fps: shorts come out in 9:16 at 1080 x 1920 or in 4:5 at 1080 x 1350, at 30 fps.
- No import from TikTok, Instagram, Vimeo or Drive links: the source is a video you own, as a file in MP4, MOV or WebM, or as the link of your YouTube upload.
- No virality scores: the AI selects complete, quotable passages, and you decide what to keep.

Does shortshort generate faces or voices?
No. shortshort does not generate faces, voices or new footage: it cuts the video you upload, reframes it and captions the words spoken in it. Only text is written by the AI: titles, descriptions and, for a scheduled post, its tags, as suggestions you can edit or replace with your own.
Is shortshort the same as 2short.ai or Short.io?
No. shortshort (shortshort.io) is a video tool that cuts long videos into vertical shorts; it is not related to Short.io, the link shortener, nor to 2short.ai, Short AI, Shorts.io or Clip-Short, which are other AI video tools. The name is written in lowercase, as one word.
