You upload a file you own, up to 3 hours and 2 GB; shortshort transcribes it, keeps the passages that form complete sentences, frames each one on the face on screen, captions it word by word and exports an MP4 at 1080 x 1920. shortshort is a web studio for turning one long recording into short vertical videos. A talk, a podcast episode, a lesson or a webinar goes in as a file, up to 3 hours and 2 GB in MP4, MOV or WebM. The transcript is produced word by word, the AI proposes passages of 15 to 90 seconds that open and close on a complete sentence, each one is reframed to 9:16 by tracking the face on screen with bounded emphasis zooms, slides and wide shots are kept full-frame, and captions are timed on the audio in one of four styles. Every proposal stays editable before rendering, and the export is an MP4 at 1080 x 1920, 30 fps. Pricing is by the minute of source video rather than by the short: one credit is one minute, 60 credits are free at sign-up and no card is required. shortshort is built and run by one independent developer, Arsène Huot, in France.

- No dubbing and no translation: captions are in the language spoken in the video.
- No automatic B-roll, music or on-screen titles: the short is your video, reframed and captioned.
- No direct publishing to TikTok, YouTube or Instagram: you download the MP4 and post it yourself.
- No other aspect ratio than 9:16, and no resolution above 1080 x 1920 at 30 fps.
- No import from a YouTube link: the source is a file you own, in MP4, MOV or WebM.
- No virality scores: the AI selects complete, quotable passages, and you decide what to keep.

Who makes it
shortshort is built and run by Arsène Huot, an independent developer in France. There is no team, no funding round and no agency: the same person writes the code, answers the support mail and set the prices on this page. More about why it exists.

How it works, in three sentences
The transcript is produced word by word, then read as text: the AI looks for passages that stand on their own and end where a sentence ends, which is why a short can run up to 25% shorter or longer than the length asked for.
Each passage is reframed to 9:16 by tracking the face on screen, with one zoom level per shot and emphasis pushes bounded between x1.0 and x1.6; slides, screens and wide shots are detected and kept whole rather than cropped.
Nothing is rendered until asked: every proposal is an edit whose bounds, framing keyframes, caption style and title can be changed first, and the manual editor and its MP4 export work without an account.
