Turn one passage of your video into a captioned vertical short, in your browser.

• One passage, chosen by you. Nothing looks for the best moments here: you set the start and the length, 90 seconds at most, from a video of up to 10 minutes and 500 MB.
• Local Whisper is less accurate than the studio. The balanced model is Whisper base (206 MB), the fastest is Whisper tiny (120 MB). Both miss more words than the transcription the studio uses, and there is no word editor here: import an SRT or VTT file if you need exact words.
• The watermark stays. Every MP4 carries a small shortshort.io badge in the top-left corner and a 1.5 s “Made with shortshort.io” end credit over the last frames. It cannot be turned off here.
• 9:16 only, one short at a time. No 4:5, no series, no saved project, no publishing. The studio exports 9:16 and the 4:5 Instagram feed format, and keeps your projects.
• It needs a recent desktop browser. The export uses WebCodecs (Chrome or Edge on a computer). Transcription uses WebGPU; without it, the page offers an SRT or VTT import or a short without captions.

1. Open your browser's developer tools (F12, or Cmd+Option+I on a Mac), go to the Network tab and tick “Preserve log”.
2. Make a short on this page, all the way to the MP4 download.
3. Sort by Method. The GET requests fetch code and models: this site's scripts and fonts, the Whisper model from remotion.media, the ONNX and MediaPipe runtimes from cdn.jsdelivr.net. Your video is read through a blob: address that exists only inside your browser.
4. Two kinds of POST remain, and neither carries your video. After each export, Remotion's renderer (the library that encodes the MP4) sends one usage record of about 120 bytes to www.remotion.pro/api/track/register-usage-point: the event “web-render”, this site's address and whether the render succeeded. On the live site, Vercel Web Analytics sends anonymous requests to /_vercel/insights: a page view and the name of each step (video loaded, transcribed, exported), never the file, its name, its sound or its words.

We ran this check ourselves on 25 September 2026: a 30-second 1080 x 1920 export in Chrome, with every fetch, XHR and beacon request made by the page logged. The only POST was Remotion's 120-byte usage record; no request carried the video, its sound or its captions.
