How many Shorts should you post per day?

YouTube publishes no recommended number of Shorts per day and no figure for its daily upload limit. What its pages say, and how to space clips from one video.

The short answer

YouTube publishes no recommended number of Shorts per day. As of 24 October 2026, its Shorts discovery page says no minimum posting cadence is required, and its upload help says each channel has a daily upload limit, without giving the number. Its Spam Policy rules out automated tools that churn out high volumes of similar content, so what counts is how many distinct clips you have.

What YouTube says about how often to post

YouTube gives no number. Its Help page "Search & discovery tips" for Shorts says: "There is no minimum posting cadence required for your videos to perform well." It suggests finding what works for your audience and your well-being, and focusing on creating great content. The same page says each Short is ranked on its own performance and on what each viewer likes: whether viewers choose to watch it, how long they stay, and whether they enjoyed it.

The YouTube Blog's getting-started guide to Shorts, dated 8 April 2025, has a tip headed "Consistency is Key": post Shorts regularly to build an audience. It names no frequency.

The only count of Shorts per period we found on the YouTube pages we read is a floor for monetization, not a target. From 1 February 2027, one of the three ways a YouTube Partner Program channel counts as active is uploading 2 long-form videos or 5 Shorts every 90 days. Our guide to the 2027 YPP rules covers the other two.

Is there a limit on how many Shorts you can upload?

Yes, but YouTube does not publish it as a number. Its Help page "Upload YouTube videos" says there is "a limit to how many videos a channel can upload each day" across desktop, mobile and the YouTube API, and links to its feature access page to raise it.

That page lists uploading videos and Shorts as a standard feature with a limited daily limit without verification, and a higher daily limit once the channel has advanced feature access, through its channel history or an identity check. It adds that a channel with advanced feature access that reaches a limit needs to wait 24 hours before using that feature again. It gives no figure for either limit.

In YouTube Studio on a computer, you can choose up to 15 short videos at a time for one upload. That is the size of a batch, not a daily cap. Apps that publish through the YouTube Data API get the error uploadLimitExceeded when a channel reaches its limit; the API reference describes it as "The user has exceeded the number of videos they may upload." and gives no number either.

What sets the number in practice: distinct clips

The rule that does limit volume is about sameness. YouTube's Spam Policy does not allow using automated tools or AI to churn out high volumes of similar content with minimal changes, while testing new creation tools or posting a few variations of a video is fine. Its channel monetization policies add that the substance of each video should be materially varied. Neither page counts Shorts per day.

For clips cut from one long recording, the useful count is the number of self-contained ideas it holds: each clip should open where a thought starts and close when the speaker finishes it. Our guide to one-hour videos goes through how many clips a recording can hold.

In our view, spacing the clips of one recording over several days avoids showing the same speaker and set several times in a row, and leaves time to see which clip viewers watch before posting the next. That is editorial judgment, not a YouTube rule.

With shortshort

shortshort cuts a long video you own, a file in MP4, MOV or WebM up to 2 GB or the link of your own public or unlisted YouTube video, downloaded on our servers at up to 720p with its audio, into shorts, then can schedule them from the Publish page, on every plan including Free and at no credit cost. It publishes to a connected YouTube channel; publishing to TikTok is in early access. The calendar takes up to 5 slots a day at the hours you choose, in your time zone; with the default settings, one short goes out each day at 18:00. An optional cap sets how many shorts from the same video go out each day, so one recording is spread over several days. A slot sends one short to every account you tick, up to 5. When YouTube answers that the channel has reached its upload limit, the short is not dropped: it goes back on the calendar and is tried again a full day later. shortshort does not choose a number of Shorts per day for you, and no schedule changes how YouTube ranks a Short. A new account gets 30 credits once, no card.

Questions people ask

How many Shorts should I post per day for growth?

YouTube does not give a number. Its Shorts discovery page says there is no minimum posting cadence required for your videos to perform well, and that each Short is ranked on how viewers respond to it. Its getting-started guide only says to post regularly. Daily figures that circulate on other sites do not come from YouTube's pages.

Is there a daily limit on YouTube Shorts uploads?

Yes, but YouTube does not publish the number. Its Help says there is "a limit to how many videos a channel can upload each day" across desktop, mobile and the YouTube API, higher with advanced feature access. With advanced access, a channel that reaches a limit waits 24 hours. In YouTube Studio on a computer, you can choose up to 15 short videos at a time.

Does posting many Shorts a day hurt a channel?

None of the YouTube pages we read says that frequency alone hurts a channel, and the Shorts discovery page says Shorts performance doesn't negatively impact long-form video recommendations. Its Spam Policy does not allow using automated tools or AI to churn out high volumes of similar content with minimal changes, while posting a few variations of a video is fine.

Can I schedule several Shorts a day with shortshort?

Yes. On the Publish page, the calendar takes up to 5 slots a day at the hours you choose, in your time zone, and an optional cap limits how many shorts from the same video go out each day. Scheduling is on every plan, Free included, and costs no credits. If YouTube says the channel has reached its upload limit, the short is tried again a full day later.
