Face tracking places the vertical crop on the panellist in the shot and moves it with a clean cut when the camera goes to another one, instead of drifting across the empty chairs in between. A shot of the whole row, or the screen behind it, is kept whole rather than cropped, because a vertical slice of four chairs keeps one person and loses three.

Cross-talk is rarely picked, because the selection keeps passages that read as finished sentences and a sentence spoken over someone else is not one. If a passage does carry two voices, the framing holds the whole row automatically instead of jumping between faces, and the in and out points stay editable in the studio before you render again.
It works, within what the picture holds. The vertical frame is taken inside that wide image and placed on the face the tracker finds; a 9:16 slice keeps about a third of the width of a 16:9 picture, which is what brings a distant chair to a size worth watching on a phone, and zooms stay automatic, between x1.0 and x1.6. A face too small in the picture is not tracked, and if the source is low resolution there is no manual correction; pick a passage the tracker frames well.
