One slot per short, or a calendar filled for you

Give each exported short its own day and time, or let shortshort fill the calendar: up to 5 slots a day at the hours you choose, kept in your time zone when the clocks change, with an optional cap on how many shorts from the same video go out each day, so one recording is spread over the weeks. A slot sends one short to every account you tick, up to 5.

Publish once ready, from the studio

Switch on Publish once ready before you generate: once the shorts are rendered, they are scheduled on the channels, days and times you set, without coming back to the studio. A setting on the Publish page switches it on for every new video, with your usual channels and times.

A title and a description for each short

The AI writes a title, a description of two to four sentences followed by hashtags, and tags for each short, from what is said in it, in the spoken language or the one you choose. You can add your own text before or after every title and description, give the AI an instruction for the wording, and edit any publication and its visibility, public, unlisted or private, until it goes out. On YouTube the description ends with #Shorts.

Which version goes out, and what waits

Scheduling takes the 9:16 version of a short; a short that exists only in 4:5 goes out in 4:5, and YouTube shows it with bars. A short goes to a given account once. When YouTube refuses an upload because a daily limit is reached, the short is not dropped: it goes back on the calendar and leaves once the limit lifts, a full day later when the channel itself has reached its upload limit.

How it works, step by step

5 steps, all in the same shortshort studio.

  1. 01Generate shorts from one long video in the shortshort studio with a free account; switch on Publish once ready if you want them scheduled as soon as they are rendered.
  2. 02On the Publish page, connect your YouTube channel with your Google account.
  3. 03Pick a day and time for each exported short, or let shortshort fill the calendar with the slots you choose, in your time zone.
  4. 04Check the title, description and visibility of each publication, and change them until it goes out.
  5. 05At the time set, the MP4 is uploaded to your channel; the calendar marks it published, or shows when it will go out if YouTube asked it to wait.

Questions people ask

Can I schedule YouTube Shorts automatically?

Yes. Connect your channel on the Publish page, then pick a day and time for each short or let shortshort fill the calendar, up to 5 slots a day in your time zone. With Publish once ready switched on in the studio, a new series is scheduled as soon as its shorts are rendered, with no other step.

Is there a way to automate YouTube Shorts from a long video?

Yes, from one long video of your own: shortshort transcribes it, picks passages that open and close on complete sentences, frames them on the face on screen, captions every word and, with Publish once ready, schedules the shorts on your channel. You still choose the video, the number of shorts and the slots, and you can edit or cancel any publication before it goes out.

Is publishing included on the free plan?

Yes. Any free account can connect a YouTube channel and schedule its exported shorts, and publishing costs no credits: credits pay for the analysis of the video, 1 per minute, and a new account gets 30 once, no card. Free-plan shorts keep their watermark on YouTube, like every Free export, and stop at 3 per video; any paid plan removes the watermark.

Does it publish to TikTok or Instagram too?

Not to every account yet: publishing to TikTok is in early access and opens to every account once TikTok approves shortshort's app. Instagram is not connected: download the MP4, 9:16 for Reels or 4:5 for the feed, and post it yourself.

Which version of a short goes to YouTube, 9:16 or 4:5?

The 9:16 version, uploaded as the MP4 you exported, 1080 x 1920 at 30 fps. A short that exists only in 4:5, such as a 4:5 copy edited after its 9:16 export, goes out in 4:5 at 1080 x 1350, and YouTube shows it with bars.

What happens when my channel hits its YouTube upload limit?

The short waits instead of failing. When YouTube answers that the channel has reached its upload limit, the publication goes back on the calendar and is tried again a full day later; when the daily upload limit YouTube sets for shortshort as a whole is reached, it waits until after midnight, Pacific time. The calendar shows when it will go out.

Can I send the same short to several channels?

Yes. A slot sends one short to every account you tick, up to 5, at the same time. A short goes to a given account once: once it is scheduled or published there, it is not scheduled there again, in 9:16 or in 4:5.

Who decides whether a short is made for kids?

On YouTube, the audience setting (made for kids or not) follows your channel's default in YouTube Studio: shortshort never sets it for you. Visibility, public, unlisted or private, is yours to choose for each publication.
