The whole video is transcribed word by word and watched with its audio before anything is chosen. The AI then keeps passages that can be quoted on their own, a full answer or a full argument, rather than slicing the timeline at fixed intervals.
You set a target length between 15 and 90 seconds. To close a sentence cleanly, a short may run a quarter shorter or longer than that target: ask for 30 seconds and you get anything from 22.5 to 37.5 seconds, room for the last sentence to finish.
The shorts proposed together cover distinct parts of the recording. Ten shorts from one request are ten different moments, each with its own title and its own edit, so you are not posting the same moment with a different crop.
Nothing is rendered until you ask. Every selected short is an edit you can shorten, extend, retitle or discard in the studio, and there is no score that predicts views: the AI selects what reads as complete, and you decide what goes out.

It reads the transcript of the whole video and keeps passages that stand on their own: an answer, a claim with its example. The cut is placed on the first and last word of that passage, never at a fixed second, and the end of each short is then checked against the transcript; when an exact ending cannot be confirmed, the studio says so.
A second pass transcribes each short again, with up to two seconds of audio past the longest end its 25% margin allows, and moves the end onto the sentence end closest to your target length, as long as the short stays within 25% of it. When no sentence end fits, the short keeps the AI's cut and the studio asks you to check the last seconds.
Yes. Paste the link of your public or unlisted YouTube video under the drop zone: shortshort downloads it on its own servers at up to 720p with the audio, within the same 2 GB limit, and the studio opens on it like on an uploaded file. Links from other sites are not supported. It needs a free account. Private, age-restricted and live videos cannot be imported, and YouTube sometimes refuses downloads from servers: if an import fails, upload the file instead.
Yes, on every plan. Before you generate, What to look for is set to Auto, which leaves the choice to the AI; you can pick one of 7 presets instead, Funny moments, Key insights, Stories and anecdotes, Strong opinions, Emotional moments, Tips and how-to or Quotable lines, or describe the moments in your own words, from 3 to 200 characters. The AI favors those moments, but the length you set and complete sentences still come first, and when the video has few matching moments it takes the closest ones and still delivers the number of shorts you asked for.

No. shortshort does not compute a performance score or predict views. It proposes passages that are complete and quotable, and the order and the final choice are yours. Each short comes with a title the AI wrote for it, which is the quickest way to pick.
No. Each short is a separate MP4, and shorts are never merged into one compilation. Inside one short, the AI may join a few non-overlapping excerpts of the same video to make one self-contained point: up to 3 for a 15-second target, 5 for 30 seconds and 8 from 45 seconds, each listed in the studio with its start and end. Each short can be scheduled on YouTube from the Publish page, or downloaded; TikTok publishing is in early access.
