ZOOM RECORDING TO CLIPS

Turn a Zoom recording into short clips.

Zoom leaves an MP4 in a folder after every recorded call, and that file is the input the shortshort studio expects. Same product as the rest of the site: it transcribes the call, keeps the passages that finish their point and frames the person on screen, with one piece of advice below about gallery views.

The saved MP4 goes in as it is

Zoom's recording is an MP4, one of the three formats accepted, and up to 3 hours and 2 GB fit in one upload.

Screen shares survive

When someone shares a screen, the studio detects it and keeps the full frame; when the camera is back, the 9:16 crop follows the face.

The whole call is transcribed

Every word is transcribed on the audio before selection starts, and the selected passages are timed again word by word for captions.

How to do it

Four steps. About two minutes of your time.

  1. 01Find the MP4 Zoom saved on your computer, or download it from Zoom's cloud, and upload it
  2. 02Set how many clips you want and a length between 15 and 90 seconds
  3. 03Check the crop on each clip, especially where the gallery view shows several people
  4. 04Download the clips as separate 1080 x 1920 MP4s

What this page does not promise

No Zoom integration: the studio does not connect to your Zoom account or pull cloud recordings; you upload the file.

No audio cleaning: the call's sound goes into the clip as recorded, with no noise removal and no silence trimming.

Questions people ask

Which Zoom recording layout works best?

Speaker view, where one person fills the frame: the 9:16 crop is placed on the face on screen and moves with it, and scene detection resets it when the recording cuts to another shot. On a gallery view, open the framing keyframes in the shortshort studio and move or lock any that are not where you want them.

Does it work with Teams, Meet or Webex recordings?

Yes, as long as the file is MP4, MOV or WebM. The studio does not care which software made the recording; it works on the file.

How much does a one-hour Zoom call cost to clip?

60 credits, since shortshort counts 1 credit per minute of recording, and 60 is exactly what a new account receives free. Beyond that, Starter gives 240 credits a month for 12 EUR and Creator 800 for 29 EUR, before VAT.

Are shared screens readable?

Yes. A shared screen is detected as a screen and kept as the full image inside the vertical frame, so a spreadsheet or a slide is not cropped through the middle.

Will an internal call end up public?

Only if you export a short and leave it in the community, where it goes by default with the source video and transcript. Every paid plan lets you keep shorts out of the community for the whole account, and any published short can be withdrawn.

Is this a Zoom app or a separate tool?

Neither. It is the shortshort studio in the browser, with a page written for people who have a Zoom file and want clips from it. Nothing is installed in Zoom.

A 47-minute recorded customer call on Starter, 5 shorts, one drop.

Free to try with 60 credits. Your source video stays yours; the shorts you export join the community, and a plan keeps them out of it.
