What the JSON contains
The selected passage with its bounds, the framing keyframes with their zoom values, and the word-by-word timings of the captions. It is the data the shortshort studio uses to render, written out for another renderer to read.

What shortshort does not render
Another aspect ratio, a resolution above 1080 x 1920, a frame rate above 30, a caption look the four styles do not cover, or a logo and a music track: shortshort produces none of these. The export hands the edit to a renderer you control, and what it adds is your decision.
Not an API
The export is a file you download from the studio for a short you have already edited. There is no API to trigger generation, no MCP and no webhook; the JSON is the output of a manual step, not an integration endpoint.
Not an XML for an editing application
The format is JSON, not a Premiere or Final Cut XML sequence. If your pipeline is an editing application rather than a renderer, plan on converting the passages and keyframes to that application's format.

Questions people ask
Which plan includes the JSON edit-plan export?
The JSON edit-plan export is a Studio-plan feature, at 79 EUR per month or 758 EUR a year before VAT. Starter and Creator download the finished 1080 x 1920 MP4 but not the plan behind it; the Studio plan also brings 3,000 credits a month and the brand preset.
What is in the edit plan?
For each short: the passage that was selected with its start and end, the framing keyframes and their zooms between x1.0 and x1.6, and the timed words used for the captions. It describes the edit; it does not contain the video file, which you already own.
Can I use it to render 4K or 16:9?
Not from shortshort: its only render is 1080 x 1920, 30 fps, 9:16, with no 4K or 16:9 option. The edit plan gives your own renderer the passage bounds, the 9:16 framing keyframes and the timed words; what that renderer then produces from the original file, and at which size, is up to your pipeline, not the studio.
Is there an API to fetch the plan automatically?
No. shortshort has no API, no MCP server and no webhook. The JSON is exported by hand from the studio for each short. If you need many plans, export them one by one after editing.
Is this a separate product for developers?
No. It is a Studio-plan option inside the same shortshort studio that proposes, edits and renders shorts for every other plan. The AI selection, the framing and the captions are computed the same way; the export writes the result to a file instead of a video.
